Alton Butler

I hail from the great state of Alabama. After an abrupt ending to my football career, I decided to go to Florida buy a house and heal my wounds, mentally and physically. After 3 years of healing and partying, I decided it was time to do something with my life. So I moved to LA to become an actor.

I took some classes, did a couple “Soaps”, Baywatch, some TV sitcoms and about 7 movies. When the acting gigs weren’t paying the bills I started prop assisting on commercials with a friend of mine. Part of the job consisted of picking up all the equipment that we needed on set. Then, lightning struck …“Why don’t we just buy this stuff and rent it to the production companies ourselves??” Thus, in 1997 “Line 204” was established out of my carport in Studio City. I believe that the most valuable asset a company has are its’ employees. I would like to say ‘Thank you’ to all of the Line 204 staff that I consider my family. Most of all, I would like to thank “All Y’all” that have displayed your loyalty over the years. I still consider Line 204 a small company that always puts there clients 1st and has room for improvement. If you ever have any suggestions that can help us improve the way we do business my door is always open. Thanks to all the wonderful people in this business!!

I am originally from Alabama. I had a brief stop in Miami, Florida for about 8 years as a bartender. I remember going to visit my brother Alton (when I say ‘brother’ I mean we practically grew up in each others home since we were 4 years old) one year and asking him what all that ‘stuff’ was under his carport. He just smiled and said “That’s my business Line 204”.

Well he obviously knew something I didn’t because when I returned 6 months later to visit, that ‘stuff’ needed it’s own location in Burbank. All my life, Alton has never let me down, so when he asked if I wanted to come out and work with him I was actually here before he knew it, iterally (that’s a funny story in itself). Well Burbank couldn’t handle us “Rednecks” so we packed up and moved to Hollywood and the rest of the story is being written. I work with my brother in a successful business and together we have fun with our clients, work hard and make the best team….it just comes natural for us. And after many hours of hard work, our hard working employees and our Very Loyal clients we are fulfilling our dreams. I would like to Thank each and everyone of you and especially by brother.

I’m originally from the Alabama. I then moved to North Carolina for 20 years and raised two wonderful kids. I was the office manager of an investment firm for 16 years but when my little brother Alton called and told me his company is really growing and could really use my help. You mean I get to be with my brother and live in southern California.

So at 40 years old, I loaded up and headed to the great state of California to work as the Line 204 accountant. I am so glad that I took that leap of faith it has been an unbelievable journey my life has evolved in so many ways that I never thought was possible.

Now four years later, I work for a great company that Alton started in his garage. I am very proud of him and also very lucky to be a part of Line 204. We have the best employees and clients. Their devotion and loyalty is remarkable. I have a great family in Line 204.

Hello, my name is Sam .I am a native to California. I grew up in Seal Beach. I Graduated at Huntington beach high school, class of 80’. I then moved to Brentwood where I got a job as “Dance Captain” for Chippendales. In my mid 20’s still wondering what to do with my life I gave a go at acting and dancing I even tried selling cars. I attempted to market a couple of inventions which never panned out. I eventually got into a band as a percussionist which allowed me to do a lot of traveling in the early 90’s.

In 1997 I moved to Las Vegas to establish a career in music and entertainment. It was a great experience, one which I will never forget. However, to make a long story short, our great show slowly came to an end. Seeking a change in careers I called my old friend Alton Butler who I’ve known and admired for almost 15 years. He offered me a chance to do what I enjoy, helping people in any way I can. Nothing makes me smile more than to get an e-mail that says “Thank you sooooo much Sam”

I’m looking forward to meeting each and every one of you. Now go make it a great day!

Well, in 1980 I was born in a small Army town in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
My life on the East coast was short lived and my family and I moved to California at the early age of 2. I grew up in the San Fernando Valley since that time.

After high school I bounced from job to job trying to find my true passion in life. My vocational experiences varied from shoe salesman at footlocker to working at the Getty Museum and then becoming a veterinary technician which I enjoyed mainly because of my connection with animals and the ability to help them and their owners in times of duress. As I worked on I realized I loved working with people so I decided to look around for a new journey in life.

I met Alton in October of 2004 through a mutual friend; Alton was in the need of a driver so I said sure I loved to work in Hollywood. Wow what a great decision that was! Not only did I get to meet so many interesting and friendly people on different locations and sets, at the same time I gained a family at Line 204. Since that time I have moved into the office and I am currently the manager of Line 204 production supplies.

Alton and the entire team here have been inspirational and supportive in every avenue of my life; my time here has been like no other I have ever experienced. I am looking forward to meeting everyone I can and sharing the Line 204 Love and Support to all in the business! To all of you that have been with us since the beginning and to all of you that we will meet in the near future, I say Thank You!

I am a native Californian. I grew up in a small town in northern California called Pleasanton. I graduated from Amador High School and that is the same H.S. my father graduated from. After high school a bunch of us guys moved down to the wonderful city of San Diego, California where we attended and graduated from San Diego University. I majored in Theatre and decided to move to So Cal to pursue an acting career.

I started waiting tables and going to acting classes during the day. I did a few commercials which lead me to getting my SAG card, but like most struggling actors, I couldn’t make a living. A fellow waitress friend who was working part-time at a production rentals company, where the driver broke his hand and the company was looking for a replacement, talked me into applying. She recommended me for the job and I became the new driver. I then soon realized that a PA pays more and brings you different opportunities within the film industry. After a few years a friend of mine started a production rentals company and asked me if I wanted to help him run it. After growing the company from nothing to one of the biggest production rental companies in So Cal at the time and after writing a Production Assistant’s Handbook, I decided to leave and try something else. I started consulting for a small rental company. In 2003 I decided to start my own production rental company. As a small company I had to think outside the box and find different venues to rent equipment to. I started to network and meet a lot of location managers and assistant location managers, which I convinced to try my company. Challenged and determined to succeed, I learned all their needs, and this was something that few were doing.
In 2007, I received a call from an old friend of mine, Alton Butler from Line 204. He called me to ask if I wanted to join his team at line 204. I jumped at the new challenge and a great opportunity to start a new division called Line 204 Film and Television Location Services. I knew that this would be a great experience going from a sole proprietor to a team of professional people and employees which gives me an opportunity to learn more facets in the film industry. Since Line 204 is the true one stop shop I know we can help so many productions with great inventive products, great service and a team behind us to service the locations department.
NOTE: I am very proud and humbled at the opportunity. My daughter and son also want to thank Alton for rescuing their dad from working long hours ranging from 70 to 80 hours per week.
